Adelphi University Seeks Adjunct Instructor for Fall 2016

Adelphi University in Garden City, NY seeks to hire an adjunct instructor to teach Western Civilization I (ancient history through the Reformation) in the fall 2016 semester, which begins on August 29.

One section for which we are seeking to hire an instructor meets Mondays and Wednesdays from 2:25 to 3:40pm. Another, honors, section might be added once we receive enrollment information for honors students in July. If scheduled, it would meet Mondays and Wednesdays 4:15-5:30pm. We would prefer to hire someone who can teach both sections, but will consider candidates who can only teach one.

Adjunct pay was $4,287 per course in the 2015-16 academic year. The pay in fall 2016 is dependent on contract negotiations currently underway, but will likely not differ greatly from last year.

Adelphi University can easily be reached from NYC by public transportation via a short ride on the Long Island Railroad from Penn Station, the Atlantic Terminal in Brooklyn, and Jamaica Station in Queens.

If interested, please email Michael Christofferson at mchristofferson@adelphi.edu with a CV. If available, a course outline or syllabus and a teaching evaluation of some sort (a peer review or student evaluations, for example) would be helpful. MA required. ABD or PhD preferred.
