Spring 2016 – ENVST-UA 101 Environment & Society The Department of Environmental Studies at New York University is searching for 3 Recitation Leaders for the following course:

Course Description

.A systematic survey of central concepts and issues relating to environment and society including environmental history and concepts of nature and the environment; the rise of environmentalism; environmental skepticism; anthropogenic global change; population and consumption, ecological footprint analysis and other environmental indicators; environmental justice; public goods and collective action problems; regulatory regimes; environmental politics; environmental movements; environmental values; environmental protest and disobedience; and the future of environmentalism. This course is a gateway to the Environmental Studies major and minor, and one of its core courses. It will cover a very significant amount of demanding material, in order to prepare students for upper-level courses.

Minimum Qualifications

.

Holds or is pursuing a graduate degree and has strong academic interest or experience in topics relating to the environment and society.

Job Responsibilities

  • Attend all lectures (Tuesday, Thursday; 2:00-3:15pm)
  • Lead 2 recitation sections once per week (approximately 20 students per section), recitation assignment to be determined by the program.
  • Recitation times for Spring 2016 are:
    • Monday, 11:00am-12:15pm
    • Monday, 3:30-4:45pm
    • Tuesday, 9:30am-10:45am
    • Wednesday, 11:00am-12:15pm
    • Wednesday, 3:30-4:45pm Thursday, 12:30-1:45pm
  • Grading
  • Hold regular office hours
