Internship Opportunity with PODER in Mexico City

I am writing to inform you about an innovative summer internship program in Mexico City with the Project on Organizing, Development, Education, and Research (PODER). Following three successful summer programs with interns from major U.S., British, and Mexican universities, including Harvard, Columbia, Johns Hopkins University SAIS, MIT, London School of Economics, and UNAM, we are excited to reach out once again to high achieving senior undergraduates and graduate students from top universities worldwide.

PODER is a one-of-a-kind NGO working to improve corporate transparency and accountability in Latin America, and we are currently recruiting interns to join our team as strategic researchers, computer programmers, or graphic designers for 10-12 weeks this summer as well as throughout the academic year. Interns will receive hands-on training from experienced corporate researchers and/or systems professionals to work on ongoing projects, including environmental and human rights campaigns in the alternative energy sector, worker rights initiatives in the extractive industry, and an electronic platform for corporate whistle-blowers and stakeholders. The internship will combine training from experts with hands-on projects to ensure that the experience is academically and professionally fulfilling.

I am a graduate from Harvard College and the London School of Economics, currently working as the Interim Research Coordinator at PODER.  I started with PODER a year and a half ago as an intern, and I can affirm from first-hand experience that this is an outstanding opportunity for students to join an innovative, dynamic team working on strategic intelligence and capacity building for the corporate accountability movement in Latin America.

For any student of Latin American Studies, or related departments, living and working in Mexico’s capital city is an exciting experience, both professionally and socially. We hope that you will share this opportunity with students interested in corporate accountability and social justice in Latin America.

The link below includes further information about PODER and how to apply for the internship. If you have any questions about the internship or our work, I would be happy to speak with you. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
