Part of the scholarly conference series Educating Harlem: Histories of Learning and Schooling in an American Community
Public Lecture given by Jonna Perrillo, Associate Professor at the University of Texas at El Paso and Author of Uncivil Rights: Teachers, Unions, and Race in the Battle for School Equity. The book deals with a wealth of research showing that minority students continue to receive an unequal education and talks about the complex and often conflicted relationship between teachers and civil rights activists.
