Bates College seeks a Visiting Assistant Professor of United States history

The Department of History at Bates College seeks a Visiting Assistant Professor of United States history since 1900. Of special interest is work that considers gender, sexuality, and race. This position is scheduled to begin August 2019 for one year, with possibility of renewal for one additional year.

We are particularly interested in candidates who can contribute to interdisciplinary programs at Bates such as American Studies, African American Studies, Latin American Studies, and Gender and Sexuality Studies. Full-time teaching responsibilities include a one-semester survey course of U.S. History since 1900, thematic courses and seminars, and senior thesis advising. The annual teaching load is five courses spread over two semesters and a five-week Short Term in the spring.

Qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates who will have completed by August 1, 2019 their Ph.D. in History, American Studies, or a related field.
