Fall 2018 American history adjunct opening at College of Staten Island

The College of Staten Island, CUNY, is seeking an adjunct instructor to teach HST 260, a one-semester survey of U.S. history, during the fall semester, which begins on August 27, 2018.  A description of the course is below.  The class is scheduled to meet on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 10:10 a.m. to 12:05 p.m.  Minimum qualification is a master’s degree in history.  Anyone interested should send email the interim chair, Professor Susan Smith-Peter (Susan.SmithPeter@csi.cuny.edu), and attach a c.v.  Thank you.

HST 260 – U.S.History, First Encounters to the Present (4 hours; 4 creditsAbbreviated Course Description: A one-semester survey of United States History. While designed to contribute to the liberal arts general education of CSI students and to the training of history majors, the course will be especially valuable to students intending careers as elementary and middle school social studies teachers, since it is based on the content and skills required of elementary and middle school social studies teachers in New York City and State.

Adjunct would be expected to adopt a standard syllabus and suggested readings, teaching one of a number of sections of the same course.​
