Fieldston School is in need of someone who can teach US history for the spring semester

The history department at Fieldston School, an independent progressive high school in the Bronx is in need of someone who can teach US history for our spring semester.  The course is a team-taught interdisciplinary course that combines history, ethics, and English.  This would be an ideal position for someone working on their dissertation because it is only part time (the salary would be somewhere around $15,000 — maybe more).  The only full day, in terms of time commitment, would be Wednesdays.  On Mondays and Fridays the commitment would be around 2 hours and on Tuesday and Thursdays, the commitment is one hour.

We need someone who is intellectually agile and creative — the other two teachers of this course are fast thinkers and we need someone who can generally keep up with them.  The core history text for the course is Foner’s Give Me Liberty.  The teachers engage in a lot of project-based learning as well (that is where the creative piece comes into play).  But the class is based on small group discussion-based learning as well.

The semester starts on January 22. We would like to have someone in place as soon as possible.

If you are interested in learning more about this position, please feel free to reach out.
