January 29 The Graduate Center Offers Fitness Classes

The Graduate Center offers fitness classes facilitated by the Doctoral Students’ Council (DSC) and the Student Affairs office. Although the program is partially subsidized by the DSC, regrettably, we are no longer able to offer these classes free to students.

Please note: There is a new registration process for students this semester. Please make sure to read the instructions below. We can no longer offer online registration.

Registration for the first half of the spring 2015 semester will begin at 10:00 am on Thursday, January 29 in room 7301. Students, Faculty, Staff and Community Members must register in person at the Student Affairs office, room 7301. Payment is required at time of registration and a $10 registration fee is applicable each semester for Faculty, Staff and Community Members.
Registration and full payment are required before the first class for all classes, see schedule below. Registration is first come, first served.
Payment may be made by cash, money order or check made payable to the Graduate Center, CUNY. We regret that we cannot accept credit cards.

Fitness equipment is provided.

 

Hatha Yoga

Bodily Postures (asanas), deep relaxation, breath control (pranayama), and mental concentration create a supple and relaxed body, increase vitality and promote radiant health.

Intermediate Yoga (Mindful Vinyasa Yoga – Intermediate)

This class is for students who are already familiar with basic yoga poses and sun salutations. We will continue to explore the mental and physical benefits of moving mindfully and will apply basic alignment principles to a wider variety of poses, including inversions. Pranayama (breathing exercises) or sitting meditation will be integrated into every class. Come deepen your understanding of yoga and yourself!

Pilates

Pilates improves core strength and balances the muscles around the joints, improving the way your body functions, looks and feels.
