“Live From the Columbia Archives”
Spring 2016

Join us for two events this semester, each featuring exciting scholarship based on research conducted with the archival materials in Columbia University’s Rare Book and Manuscript Library.

On March 21, Manisha Sinha, professor and graduate program director of Afro-American Studies at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, will talk about The Slave’s Cause: A History of Abolition, a new and deeply researched study revealing the forgotten radicalism of the antislavery movement.

On April 27, Brian P. Murphy, an associate professor at Baruch College, will speak on Building the Empire State: Political Economy in Early America, an examination of the the origins of American capitalism.

Events will be held at 6pm in Butler Library, Room 523.
