May 1st Purposeful Pedagogy Workshop

Office of Career Planning and Professional Development

Please join us on Friday, May 1st for this year’s Purposeful Pedagogy workshop, a one-day series of panels and discussions designed to introduce GC students to new teaching strategies and pedagogy techniques.

Purposeful Pedagogy was conceived of 4 years ago, by a group of GC students and faculty who were concerned by the number of adjuncts and teaching fellows who enter into the classroom without much formal teaching experience or training.

Panels this year will again cover some basics for new instructors (for example, there will be sessions on syllabus design and grading strategies). We’ll also be organizing new sessions for instructors who’ve already been teaching and are looking to implement some new tricks in the classroom.

Speakers will include a mix of full-time faculty and experienced graduate student instructors. If you’re interested in sharing your own teaching experience by speaking on a workshop panel, please send us an email at: careerplan@gradcenter.cuny.edu

And if you’d like to attend the conference, please register now http://goo.gl/Gw4rES. The workshop is free of charge and doctoral students with all levels of experience are encouraged to come. Breakfast, lunch and snacks will be served.
We hope to see you there!
