October 21 – The Killing of CUNY, Board of Trustees Protest

Join $7K or Strike and the student-led Free CUNY movement on Monday, Oct. 21, for a lively and defiant funeral procession through Harlem to protest the killing of CUNY by Governor Cuomo and his Board of Trustees. We will start at 3pm at the corner of 125th Street and Malcolm X Blvd (Lenox Ave) and march to the Hunter Silberman School of Social Work (2180 3rd Ave @ 119th St), where the Trustees are holding their annual Manhattan public hearing, to demand full funding for CUNY. See the Facebook event here  and download the flier to print out and post at your campus. Spread the word!

Actions like this help us build toward a strike authorization campaign that can end the destructive budget cuts deepening across CUNY. By preparing to strike we can exert enough pressure on city and state officials to win a fair and fully funded contract that includes a minimum $7K per course for adjuncts. Already four PSC chapters have passed resolutions pushing PSC central leadership to start a strike authorization campaign and committing chapters to form strike committees and take other immediate actions to build strike readiness. These resolutions passed at the Graduate Center and Queens College chapters in September, and last week at Bronx Community College and (unanimously!) at BMCC. Read about the resolutions and check out our campaign FAQ .
