Otto Paul Pflanze Scholarship 2025

The DAAD Alumni Association USA welcomes applications for the 2025 Otto Paul Pflanze Scholarship. The Pflanze Scholarship provides financial support for students in History and/or related fields (including interdisciplinary programs and projects in German Studies) at universities in the USA who will be conducting research and/or studying in Germany in 2025. The Scholarship is open to advanced undergraduates (junior standing or higher) and graduate students (pursuing an M.A. or Ph.D. degree) currently enrolled at a US university. The total support will be $4,000 – $6,000 based on qualifications and the quality of the application. The application deadline is March 1, 2025. Otto Paul Pflanze (1918-2007) was an eminent historian specializing in 19th century Germany. Pflanze held professorships at the University of Minnesota, Indiana University (where he served as editor-in-chief of the American Historical Review), and Bard College in Annandale-on-Hudson as Stevenson Professor of History. He was a member of the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton, New Jersey, and a founding member of the Historisches Kolleg in Munich.
