Princeton University seeks Assistant Professor in European History (Tenure Track)

Anticipated start date, September 1, 2020. The Department of History at Princeton University invites applications from scholars who specialize in the history of Europe – and Europe’s relations with the rest of the world – from the 16th century to c.1900. We particularly encourage applications from candidates whose work will complement rather than duplicate the department’s existing strength in British, Central European, and pre-1815 French history. We are also especially interested in specialists in Southern or Northern Europe. Reviews of files will begin October 7, 2019, but applications will be considered until the department chooses to close the search. Applicants should provide a detailed letter of application, curriculum vitae, and a two page dissertation or book abstract. Applicants should also provide contact information for at least three referees as part of the online recommendation process. For candidates who do not yet have a Ph.D., the recommendation of the principal advisor must include precise information on the present status of the dissertation and the likelihood of completion by summer 2020. Please apply online at https://puwebp.princeton.edu/AcadHire/position/12741.

Princeton is especially interested in candidates who, through their research, teaching, and service, will contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community. This position is subject to the University’s background check policy.
