PSC: This is It

By now you’ve likely read Barbara’s email. We are holding a strike authorization vote from May 2nd to May 11th! This is a pivotal moment in the history of the Professional Staff Congress. If you’ve ever thought about getting more involved in your union, now is the time! And as soon as May 2nd arrives, vote YES to give the PSC the leverage it needs to fight for funding for CUNY and our contract!

  1. This Friday April 22nd is the last day that you can sign the public strike authorization vote pledge! Do it here. When we get back from spring break, it’s time to vote!
  1. There will be “Get Out the Vote” phone banking ALL WEEK over spring break at 61 Broadway. If you can spare even a few hours, please reach out to Patricia Young: pyoung@pscmail.org.
  1. PSC activists will be staffing a “voting booth” every weekday of the vote in the Graduate Center lobby. If you have questions about how to vote, swing by! (You will have received detailed instructions by mail and email.) If you want to help staff the table (and we need the help!), please email me directly: lukeelliottnegri@gmail.com.
  1. There is reason to think that we can get a pay bill from Albany before the end of this legislative cycle. This vote is pivotal to demonstrating our strength and unity to CUNY management and to legislators in Albany and of course to the Governor. Barbara has made clear that we would not take a job action until the fall at the earliest-remember this vote authorizes the PSC leadership to call a strike in the event that they believe it has become necessary.

This is an important moment in the contract fight, and in the trajectory of the PSC. Reach out to get involved and above all else, VOTE YES!
