This workshop will demonstrate how to utilize the Foreign Relations of the United States official documentary history series to conduct research on the history of U.S. foreign relations, including “non-traditional” topics such as decolonization and post-colonial history.

Staff from the Office of the Historian at the U.S. Department of State will demonstrate potential uses of resources available at, provide an overview of researching online records from the National Archives, and offer advice on research strategies.

Participants will have access to computers for hands-on training.
