Seeking Instructor for Course on Chinese Civilization, Baruch College Spring 2018 semester.

 

Baruch College seeks a history instructor to teach a maximum 40-student section of HIS 3851:  The Heritage of Chinese Civilization on MoWe 2:30PM – 3:45PM during the Spring 2018 semester.  The first class will be Monday, January 29.  This course will examine the important social, cultural, intellectual, and economic trends that led to the formation of Chinese civilization. The period covered will be from the prehistoric period to the fourteenth century. The course will focus on the idea of the Mandate of Heaven, the cultural values inspired by Confucianism, the changes and continuities within the Chinese society, the patterns of economic growth, China’s interactions with neighboring settled and nomadic societies, and the creation of the Sinocentric world view. This course is cross-listed as Asian and Asian-American Studies 3851.
