Tenure track World History position at Westchester Community College

The Department of Humanities seeks a highly motivated candidate committed to student engagement and success, to teach introductory courses in World History.  The successful candidate will be expected to teach survey classes in Western Civilization, Modern Latin America, the Caribbean, Africa, and may be asked to create an Asia survey course.  Innovative and knowledgeable individuals who excel at teaching and who bring experience in instructional technology, distance learning, course development, and program/curriculum assessment are encourage to apply.  In addition to teaching a 5/5 course load, the successful candidate is expected to stay current in their field of study and participate in departmental and college activities which contribute to student success.

 

TITLE OF POSITION/RANK:  Instructor of History (Tenure Track)

 

DEPARTMENT/DIVISION:  Humanities Department /School of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:  The successful candidate will have strong educational credentials, be highly motivated to teach, be able to help students from diverse backgrounds, strive for academic excellence, work collaboratively as part of a team, and be current in the discipline of History.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:  The qualified candidates must possess a Master’s degree in Global or World History (or any fields in Other World Civilizations).   A minimum of 1 year of experience in college teaching (not including online only teaching, or graduate teaching assistant) is also required.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:  ABD or PhD preferred.

 

POSITION EFFECTIVE:  Fall 2019

 

SALARY & BENEFITS: The starting salary is $63,570 plus excellent benefits.
