TLC Graduate Fellowships, 2018-2019
The CUNY Graduate Center’s Teaching and Learning Center invites applications for TLC Fellowships for the 2018-19 academic year. TLC Fellows support CUNY Graduate Center students who are teaching across CUNY by developing and leading workshops and Focused Inquiry Groups, adding to the Teach@CUNY Handbook, consulting with graduate instructors during office hours, and contributing to a range of other projects. During the 2017-18 academic year, TLC fellows worked on projects related to creative assignment design, accessibility, socially conscious pedagogy, open teaching, teaching as an international student, museum pedagogy, approaches to interdisciplinarity, open educational resources, digital pedagogy, and more. In addition to continuing this work, the TLC plans to launch additional programs in 2018-2019 that focus on quantitative and scientific instructional methodologies, working across satellite CUNY campuses, and approaches to undergraduate research. GC TLC Fellows report to the director of the Teaching and Learning Center, and will work both independently and in collaboration with other TLC fellows, the assistant director, and two post-doctoral fellows. Ideal candidates will be deeply engaged with the City University of New York, and will be experienced college instructors familiar with current pedagogical conversations in the academy. Special consideration will be given to candidates with a proven ability to conceive of and implement original programming that furthers the scholarship of teaching and learning, and a demonstrated interest in interdisciplinary work between the humanities, social sciences and the sciences.
Strong writing, digital, and presentational skills are required, as is current enrollment in a doctoral program at the Graduate Center.
Compensation and Benefits
Total compensation for this fellowship is approximately $28,000. This funding will include a graduate assistant appointment that will carry eligibility to purchase the low-cost NYSHIP health insurance, a stipend, and in-state tuition remission for fellows who are within their first 10 registered semesters of study. Teaching and Learning Center Fellows will be required to work a total of 450 non-teaching hours during the academic year (two 15-week semesters). Fellows are required to attend weekly staff meetings, bi-weekly check-ins with the director, and weekly office hours. This position comes with the possibility of reappointment.
