(NYRDC): Accessing Non-Public Federal Data

December 8th from 2:30PM-3:30PM

Zoom Webinar (Register Here)

Conducted By: Shirley Liu, Administrator of the NYRDC-Baruch (shirley.h.liu@census.gov) and Diane Gibson, Executive Director of the NYRDC-Baruch (diane.gibson@baruch.cuny.edu)

Facilitator: Stephen Klein (sklein@gc.cuny.edu), Digital Services Librarian at the CUNY Graduate Center.

The NYRDC is part of the Federal Statistical Research Data Center Network.  The Federal Statistical Research Data Centers (FSRDCs) are secure computing labs where qualified researchers can conduct approved statistical analysis on non-public data from federal statistical agencies such as the U.S. Census Bureau, the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the National Center for Health Statistics, and the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality.  The NYRDC operates three labs, one at Baruch College, one at Cornell University, and one at Yale University.

Membership in the NYRDC Consortium covers access fees for faculty members, graduate students, and researchers affiliated with member institutions.  CUNY is a member of the NYRDC Consortium, so access to the lab is free.

The webinar will:

• Provide examples of the types of questions that can be addressed using RDC data

• Describe the restricted-access demographic, economic, health and other data available through the NYRDC

• Explain the process of applying to use the NYRDC
