2025 GC Student Conference Call for Papers

Call for Papers: Graduate Student History Conference 2025

Conference date: March 28th, 2025 (submissions due January 6, 2025)

“Beyond Boundaries: Challenging Limits and Narratives in an Expanding World.”

The student conference organizers of the PhD Program in History at the CUNY Graduate Center is excited to welcome submissions for individual papers to be presented at the 15th Annual Departmental Conference. The theme of this year’s conference is “Beyond Boundaries: Challenging Limits and Narratives in an Expanding World.”

The conference offers a supportive environment where students can gain experience presenting academic work, receiving feedback from CUNY faculty, and sharing ideas with
peers between and across fields. The Program Committee encourages all interested students to apply, with particular emphasis on first- and second-year students as the conference is designed to help the participants gain foundational experience in academic settings.

The Program Committee welcomes submissions of completed papers, preliminary findings, and works in progress such as a Master’s thesis, first- or second-year research projects, as well as dissertation chapters. It does not necessarily have to be a finished paper to apply.

To apply: submit a 250-word abstract as well as a brief bio (name, year, field, research interests, institution) by January 6, 2025, to Yuliya Barycheuskaya, Kristen Foland, and Ian
Gregory at: GChistoryconference@gmail.com.

Upon acceptance, participants will be asked to submit a 7-10 page (double-spaced) paper for commentator review 3 weeks prior to the conference date. The proposed abstract will
be included in the conference program.

We look forward to reading your proposals!
