5/15 – Inside the CUNY Graduate Center: A Dissertation Showcase (featuring History’s own Irit Bloch)
Don’t miss this fun, fast-paced event celebrating new research within the CUNY Graduate Center community. In the seventh annual showcase, selected doctoral candidates will make short presentations, describing their dissertations in three minutes each. A prize will be given to the student who does the best job translating his or her research for the public, chosen by a panel of judges, and viewers will decide on the Audience Choice Award.
Topics include what happens when dead stars collide, comedy and the migrant experience, marijuana decriminalization and race, women’s shrines in fourth-century Lebanon, U.S.-Asian relations in postwar American theater, Black experiences of healing through creativity, and many others across a wide spectrum of disciplines.
Come celebrate our students and join them in a reception with food and drink after the event!
