Announcements from the Teaching and Learning Center
The TLC has five quick announcements:
1- Abolition Pedagogies: On February 12, the TLC will host a panel discussion on Zoom about “Abolition Pedagogies,” where leading national scholars will discuss how they translate activist principals into pedagogical strategies to create classroom environments that are collaborative, liberating and supportiveTo read more, visit https://tlc.commons.gc.cuny.edu/2025/01/29/tlc-panel-abolition-pedagogies/.

3- TLC Office Hours: the TLC holds drop-in office hours M-Th during the semester. For timing and location, see https://tlc.commons.gc.cuny.edu/office-hours/.
4- Teach@CUNY Summer Institute: Before the end February, all first-year students will be invited to register for this year’s Teach@CUNY Summer Institute, scheduled for May 27-30. A follow up email is forthcoming.
5- Pizza and Pedagogy: At the TLC, they love pedagogy, and they love pizza. We want to see more enjoyment of both at the Graduate Center (shout out to the History Program’s Peer Mentor Program for giving TLC this idea!).
The TLC will provide funding for pizza and drinks for any Graduate Center academic programs that host an internal program about pedagogy during the Spring 2025 semester. Depending upon timing, TLC staff may also be able to attend and help facilitate the discussion. All events must be organized internally, have a specific pedagogical focus, and be supported by the program’s Executive Officer. After the event is concluded, the TLC will ask for a brief report.
