The Brooklyn College Learning Center is looking for interested applicants to fill several positions. Please note that each position has its own unique set of qualifications and requirements that candidates must successfully meet and fulfill. Currently Hiring for Online Learning Assistants & Online Teaching Assistants

The Brooklyn College Learning Center is in the process of hiring ONLINE LEARNING ASSISTANTS and ONLINE TEACHING ASSISTANTS to work remotely alongside faculty in select courses across the curriculum during the upcoming SP’21 semester.

ONLINE TEACHING ASSISTANTS (graduate applicants)

Job responsibilities include:

•   Participate in week 1 training and orientation to program and virtual in-class roles

•   Work with faculty on integration of web and new technology and web materials into course

•   Attend all class sessions

•   Assist faculty with management of technology during course

•   Grade online assignments

•   Manage gradebook

•   Design and lead specialized workshops during online lectures

•   Design and lead virtual homework labs; develop relevant problem sets

•   Meet weekly with instructor/s to discuss materials and responsibilities

•   Refer students to other college resources when indicated

Qualifications: Graduate student or individual with related post-bac course work, technological skill proficiency, and familiarity with BlackBoard and other online learning tools.  Excellent communication skills.

Compensation: Non-Teaching Adjunct Rate

Hours: 5 to 15 per week

Schedule: TBA depending on specific class scheduling

ONLINE LEARNING ASSISTANTS (undergraduate applicants)

Job responsibilities include:

•       Participate in week 1 training and orientation to program and virtual in-class roles

•       Attend all class sessions

•       Assist faculty in the online classroom.

•       Manage Q & A

•       Manage chat

•       Facilitate small group discussions

•       Team-teach online virtual recitation or laboratory sections with a graduate teaching assistant

•       Lead online study groups

•       Hold regular online office hour

•       Meet weekly with instructor/s to discuss materials and responsibilities

•       Refer students to other college resources when indicated

•       Report to Program Coordinator

Qualifications: Upper-level undergraduate students, with understanding of the course materials, and excellent communication skills.

Compensation: College Assistant Rate

Hours: 5 to 15 per week

Schedule: TBA depending on specific class scheduling

Tutoring Positions for College Assistants, Federal Work Study Students & Volunteers

The Learning Center is always on the lookout for new talent to fill tutoring positions for a variety of courses and welcomes applications from interested undergraduates and graduates. Applicants must possess an “A” in the course(s) they hope to tutor as well as a minimum of 50 credits completed, and an overall minimum GPA of 3.2. Instructions on how to apply are outlined below.
