Deadline: Applications Accepted and Reviewed on a Rolling Basis; Apply by May 12, 2023 for best consideration

GC Digital Initiatives welcomes applications from GC doctoral students to join the Manifold Team as a Manifold Graduate Fellow. This position offers graduate students the opportunity to gain experience with digital publishing on the Manifold platform, to design and lead workshops, to work one-on-one with CUNY Manifold users, to foster the creation of Open Educational Resources (OER) at CUNY, and to work with the larger Manifold Team to help think through the future of digital publishing.

In this position, the Manifold Graduate Fellow will work with Open Educational Technologist and OER Specialist Robin Miller and Matthew K. Gold, Director, M.A. in Digital Humanities and M.S. in Data Analysis and Visualization and Associate Professor of English & Digital Humanities, to support the CUNY instance of Manifold, helping faculty, graduate students, librarians, and staff create vibrant digital publications.

Project examples on CUNY’s Manifold instance include: Great Books for Composition Courses, Modern Humanities, The CUNY Student Editions, Black Diasporic Visions, Journal of Interactive Technology and Pedagogy (JITP), and Benito Cereno. Further examples may be found on the Manifold instances run by The University of Minnesota Press, The University of Washington Libraries and Press, and Brown University, among others.

GC Digital Initiatives encourages applications from women, Black and Indigenous people of color, and underrepresented groups in higher education and technology. They are especially interested in students who would bring a focus on open pedagogy, anti-racism, and social justice publishing to the Manifold project.

Sample tasks include:

  • Willingness to learn new technological tools
  • Demonstrated understanding of the principles of OER

The fellowship is funded as a graduate assistant B appointment and a financial aid fellowship award of $16,159; total compensation for the award is a minimum of $29,374 (depending on the candidate’s prior service, if any, in the graduate assistant B title).
