Henry Street Settlement’s New Exhibition

The Henry Street Settlement recently opened a permanent, NEH-funded exhibition, The House on Henry Street, on the history of the Settlement and of the Lower East Side. Located in our 265 Henry Street headquarters, the exhibit explores themes of urban poverty and public health amid mass immigration and rapid industrialization—with a special emphasis on the social reformers who fought for change across generations—especially our trailblazing founder Lillian Wald. Please let our public historian, Katie Vogel. know if you would like to arrange a tour (kvogel@henrystreet.org). We also have a virtual tour is at TheHouseonHenryStreet.org, if you’d like to have a peak at the exhibit’s visuals.
