Call for Papers: Belief & Identity conference at Syracuse University (submissions due January 31, 2020)

For its Twelfth Annual Graduate Conference, Syracuse University’s Future Professoriate Program is seeking papers related to belief and identity. Topics can include: the creation/evolution of religious beliefs, political views and social mores, identity politics/formation, inclusion and exclusion, and the intersection of faith and secular culture. The History FPP welcomes papers from various departments, disciplines, and methodologies.

The Future Professoriate Program’s annual conference offers graduate students of all levels an opportunity to present their research and to receive feedback from professors and peers alike. This year’s keynote address will be presented by Erik Seeman, Professor of History at the University at Buffalo. Dr. Seeman has published multiple works including Death in the New World: Cross Cultural Encounters, 1492-1800 and Pious Persuasions: Laity and Clergy in Eighteenth-Century New England. His most recent work, Speaking with the Dead in Early America is just out this November from the University of Pennsylvania Press.

The day’s schedule will also include a light breakfast, lunch, and closing reception with refreshments.
