March Updates from the Mina Rees Library

Upcoming Workshops:

Exploring Open Educational Resources (OER)

Monday 3/4, 11:00am-12:00pm

Have you heard the phrase “OER” or “open resources” and are curious to learn more about what this means, or how to find these resources?

We’ll offer an in-depth overview of how to identify open resources for your teaching or research needs, as well as provide basic definitions to help guide your way. Workshop participants will have the opportunity to search for OER in their field, including textbooks, assignments, syllabi, and other ancillary materials. We will also discuss the many modes and platforms for making available or publishing your own OER works, and are happy to field any questions about this topic.

Zotero Drop-In Help

Monday 3/4, 1:00pm-2:00pm

Stephen Klein holds one-on-one Zotero virtual office hours for drop-in video consultations on Mondays 1-2pm. Zotero is open source citation software enabling users to easily collect, organize, cite and share. These one-on-one sessions are great for consummate users who need troubleshooting assistance or new users who prefer a more informal approach.

Archival Research Drop-In Hour

Tuesday, 3/5, 11:00am-12:00pm

Members of the Graduate Center community are invited to stop by during our online drop-in sessions with questions about archival research.  Ask about finding digital and analog primary sources on your topic, identifying archives that might hold collections for you, or other questions related to archival research.

Dissertation Office Drop-in Hours

Tuesday, 3/5 2:00pm-4:00pm

Have a last-minute concern about depositing your dissertation or thesis? The library’s Dissertation Office dedicates time for drop-in Zoom consultations most Tuesdays from 2-4pm. Specific hours may vary from week to week; see registration page. Advance registration is not required but you must fill out the registration form to be connected. If another student is being assisted, you’ll be kept in the “waiting room” until the librarian is available.

NB: Students are still welcome to stop by the Dissertation Office (room 2304) at other times or request an online or in-person appointment during regular business hours by emailing the Dissertation Office at deposit@gc.cuny.edu.
