The Center for Jewish Studies at The Graduate Center, CUNY presents

Charlotte Gartenberg (Wall Street Journal), “Interviewing for and pitching to podcasts”

This workshop will offer an overview of different types of podcasts that look to interview experts and will address best practices for being interviewed. How to navigate the process of pitching yourself or being asked for an interview? How to speak specifically for an audio medium? We will set aside time for a practice exercise in interviewing and Q&A.

Charlotte Gartenberg (Wall Street Journal), “How to reimagine your work and skills for podcasting.”

How do you reimagine your scholarly work as a podcast? How do you approach research for a podcast vs. academic research? What’s the difference between writing for audio vs. an academic essay?

This workshop will include time for general Q&A as well as an exercise in writing a compelling intro.

Charlotte Gartenberg is a writer, translator, and audio producer. She currently works for the Wall Street Journal on a number of podcasts, including The Future of Everything and What’s News. Prior to working for WSJ, she was the senior producer and frequent voice on the daily show “Get the News with Gretchen Carlson.” She holds a PhD in Latin American Literature from The Graduate Center, CUNY. Her dissertation was on haunting in Latin American Jewish Literature. She has taught courses in writing, translation and literature.
