Fall 2025 Adjunct Teaching Opportunities at Stony Brook University

Stony Brook University is seeking instructors to teach one or two courses in Colonial American and U.S. History in Fall 2025 (Course titles, days, and times are Listed below). The qualified applicant will be an advanced Ph.D. candidate or recent Ph.D in U.S. history, have some teaching experience, and be able to provide two letters of recommendation upon request. Remuneration is $5,500.00 per course. There is an LIRR stop on the Stony Brook campus. Travel time via train from Penn Station or Grand Central Station is generally 90-117 minutes; from Jamaica travel time is generally 75-90 minutes. Driving time depends on traffic.

HIS 262: Colonial American Society. This course is currently scheduled to be taught MW 8:00 a.m. – 9:20 a.m.. It may be possible to move the course to MW 5:00 p.m. – 6:20 p.m.

 

HIS 396: Topics in American History. The current posted topic is “Religion and Morality in Early American History,” but this can be changed to almost any topic of the instructor’s choice, in consultation with the department. This course is scheduled to be taught MW 9:30 a.m. – 10:50 a.m.
