EVENT PROGRAM:

I. Schedule

  • NOON – Event opens; volunteers pass out programs/maps at the gates
  • 12:30pm – OPENING REMARKS and Garifuna music performance (GML Auditorium)
  • 1:15pm – FILM SCREENINGS BEGIN and run continuously (GML Auditorium/Monitors in HoF Gallery)
  • 1:30-2:15 -TOUR OF THE HALL OF FAME with Lloyd Ultan, Bronx Borough Historian (HoF)
  • 1:00-2:00 – Great Bronxites: Storytelling Performances with the Five Boro Story Project (HoF)
  • 1:30-2:30 – HALL OF FAME OR BUST PHOTO KIOSK activity runs for a limited time (HoF)
  • 2:00-2:30 – STUDENT WORK PRESENTATION from Barnard and Schomburg Center (GML Rotunda)
  • 2:30-3:30 – POETRY READINGS (GML Rotunda) AND ALONA WEISS’ PERFORMANCE (HoF)
  • 3:30-4:00 – Fordham University Office of MultiCultural Affairs presentation (GML Rotunda)
  • 4-4:30 – HOWARD SKRILL & RICH GARR PLAQUES FOR SEDGWICK ’73 (HoF)

II. Exhibition of Juried Works, Hall of Fame Art Gallery, first floor, Bliss Hall

 

Open to the public from September 21st through October 25th. This exhibition consists of paintings, sculptures, films, digital art, and various mixed media. The exhibit seeks to reexamine the Hall of Fame for Great Americans and ultimately address the importance of cultural diversity in public monuments.

Participating artists include: Grisel Acosta, Christina Barba, Darold Barnette Cuba, Eileen Burgess, Rose De Siano, Richard Garr, Zaq Landsberg, Agnes Murray, Yvette Ramos-Volz, Shenia Rudolph, Howard Skrill, Nora Waters, Alona Weiss, and Betty Yu.
