“A Life With MLK: The Perils of Biographical History”

Wednesday, September 27, 2017, at 6:30 pm, Proshansky Auditorium, The Graduate Center, CUNY, 365 Fifth Ave. (at 34th St.)

Taylor Branch is the acclaimed author of the landmark trilogy chronicling the life of Martin Luther King, Jr. and the history of the American Civil Rights Movement. The trilogy’s first book, Parting the Waters: America in the King Years, 1954-63, won the Pulitzer Prize and numerous other awards in 1989. His 2009 memoir, The Clinton Tapes: Wrestling History with the President, chronicles an unprecedented eight-year project to gather a sitting president’s comprehensive oral history secretly on tape.
