Services, Workshops, and Support Groups from The Wellness Center and Student Counseling Services

The Wellness Center and Student Counseling Services would like to remind you that they are here to support you.  They offer free confidential counseling (individual and couples), academic-oriented services, referrals, and more.  Below are some workshops and groups which still have space available.

UPCOMING WORKSHOP:

Addressing Our Imposter Phenomenon

Date/Time: November 1st at 12:30-1:30PM via Zoom

Facilitators: Josiah Teng, MA, Licensed Mental Health Therapist and Joy Shen, B.S., Clinical Fellow for Student Counseling Services

Do you ever worry, “What if they discover I’m not as capable as they think?” You’re not the only one! The imposter phenomena is a common struggle among hard-working individuals but we don’t have to let it hold us back. Join for an engaging workshop that will unravel the complexities of imposter phenomena, explore its underlying causes, and identify skills and practices to best navigate it with clarity and confidence.

Register in advance here for this workshop

You will need to use your GC or School of Journalism email address in order to get confirmation to join this workshop:

COUPLES COUNSELING:

After pandemic pause, Student Counseling Services is now re-starting couples counseling. Is your romantic relationship suffering due to communication conflicts? Do daily stresses, in particular those related to graduate school, affect your bond? Consider couples counseling. Trained counselors use diverse approaches like interpersonal, emotion-focused, and cognitive behavioral techniques to help you and your partner navigate challenges, enhance understanding, and strengthen your emotional connection. Your partner does not need to be a student at The Graduate Center to request couples counseling services.

GROUP COUNSELING & ACADEMIC SUPPORT GROUPS:

Groups can be a wonderful way to connect with other graduate students by sharing and processing experiences as well as by learning about resources, new perspectives and strategies. Groups can help you to feel less alone and more supported in graduate school. Please note, space is limited and an individual meeting with the group facilitator(s) is required to determine goodness of fit. Membership in the group is not guaranteed. Most groups are ongoing with current members. It is possible that based on current group membership, the group’s focus may not be the right fit for what you are looking for. If this happens, the group facilitator will work with you to provide alternative sources of support. Please send your request soon.
