Teaching Center Director Search
The Graduate Center is launching a new Center for Teaching in the fall and a search committee has been interviewing candidates for the director position. The center, which will help prepare doctoral students for teaching assignments at CUNY campuses and beyond, will offer a series of workshops on teaching and learning issues, including pedagogical theories and practices, as well as a collaborative space for doctoral student teachers to engage with one another about their classroom practice.
The search committee, comprised of faculty, students and administrators, has selected four final candidates for the founding director position at the new Center for Teaching. Each of these candidates will be coming to the GC over the next four or five weeks to be interviewed by groups of doctoral students and Executive Officers and also to offer a public presentation about their pedagogical philosophies and their vision for what the Center for Teaching can and should accomplish, under their leadership, in its initial year of existence.
We are inviting the entire GC community to meet the candidates, listen to their presentations, offer comments and ask questions, and also offer the search committee feedback. Please circulate the attached flyer among your students ASAP as our first candidate will be on campus next week.
