2015-2016 Mellon-Sawyer Seminar Dissertation Fellowship: Cultures & Histories of Freedom

 

The Mellon Foundation in collaboration with the Graduate Center announces a dissertation fellowship for a student pursuing the histories and meanings of freedom in the Atlantic world.  The successful applicant should be a Level III student and ABD with a defined dissertation project.  The fellowship of $21,000 is for one year.  Benefits are not included.  The recipient will be expected to interact with the participants of the Mellon-Sawyer Seminar and to be actively engaged in the year-long events (the seminar and a number of conferences) and also those forums coordinated with the Seminar in Globalization & Social Change.  For information regarding “Cultures & Histories of Freedom: Ideology, Slavery, and Creolization” please contact the conveners Herman L.
