Appalachian State University invites applications – African American history, tenure track

Appalachian State University invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professorship in African American history, beginning August 2021. Ability to teach courses in area of specialization, as well as American history surveys, required. Ph.D. in history or a related field, teaching experience, and evidence of scholarly potential expected. Candidates with an ability to teach/support public history, history education, and/or digital history initiatives are preferred. In addition to instructional duties, faculty members are expected to maintain an active program of scholarship as well as participate in service activities. The successful applicant should promote diversity and inclusive excellence as detailed in Appalachian State University’s Diversity Statement. Candidates who are ABD will be considered, but the position requires completion of all doctoral requirements by August 2021.
