Shifting Jewish Identities and Ideologies from the Dawn of the 20th Century until the Shoah A conversation introduced and moderated by Dr. Kenneth Moss, Associate Professor and Felix Posen Chair of Modern Jewish History at Johns Hopkins University, with BRGSJS Professors Joshua Karlip, author of Tragedy of a Generation: The Rise and Fall of Diaspora Nationalism in Eastern Europe (Harvard University Press), and Jess Olson, author of Nathan Birnbaum and Jewish Modernity: Architect of Zionism, Yiddishism, and Orthodoxy (Stanford University Press), who will discuss their books and the complexities of the modern European Jewish experience.
