Call for Paid Student Participants for a focus group
The Office of Career Planning and Professional Development is seeking participants for a focus group. Participants must be doctoral students in the humanities or humanistic social sciences* and can be at any stage in their program. They will receive a $50 stipend and a free lunch for each session. Student comments and suggestions will be kept anonymous. Participants must be able to attend both sessions, scheduled for the following times at the GC:
Wednesday, August 9, 12-1:30 p.m., room 7209
Wednesday, August 23, 12-1:30 p.m., room C205
We’ll discuss questions such as:
- What career path are you hoping to follow?
- How confident are you in your knowledge of career paths in the humanities?
- How can your program or the GC as a whole better support in your career goals?
- What changes could be made to the structure of doctoral programs to support a range of career possibilities for students?
If you are interested in attending, please let us know [https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSc0T-uMrQO7bCAK0EnKvU0yX1dzj9POdtLr8qNWCFOobGF-xA/viewform ].

*See the ACLS’s What are the Humanities (http://www.acls.org/about/faq/#humanities) for an idea of eligible fields: “The humanities, like the sciences, involve the analysis and interpretation of evidence, but their subject matter concerns those aspects of the human condition that are not necessarily quantifiable or open to experiment.”
