History of the Islamic World—time period and geographic specialty open– a non-tenure-track Lecturer specializing in the History of the Islamic World. The candidate will be proficient in an appropriate language for the scholarly field.  Teaching includes sections of one half of the World Civilization survey, topics courses at the Gen Ed level and upper division courses commensurate with the successful candidate’s regional and thematic specialization. The successful candidate should also be able to contribute to the Department’s and university’s strengths at the graduate level. In addition to a graduate History program, we also offer a Masters in International Studies. Pending budgetary approval we expect to initiate a tenure-track search this fall for a colleague to join the Department of History in Fall 2022.

 

Social Studies Coordinator — a non-tenure-track Lecturer specializing in history and social studies who will oversee the History Department’s secondary education program. Teaching experience at the middle or high school level is desirable. The individual filling this position will be able to prepare student teachers in African American/Black and/or Puerto Rican/Latino history in accordance with CT Public Act 19-12. Teaching includes two upper division history courses: US History for Teachers (Fall) and World History for Teachers (Spring), and an upper level social studies methods course, and courses in a field commensurate with one’s historical fields of expertise. Duties include advising of secondary education history/social studies BSED students and assisting with CAEP accreditation. Proficiency in Spanish language desirable. Pending budgetary approval we expect to initiate a tenure-track search this fall for a colleague to join the Department of History in Fall 2022.

Candidates for these positions may be ABD, but should be close to completion of the PhD.
