CFP “History at the Crossroads: Transitions and Aftermaths” (deadline extended to 1/21)

The PhD Program in History at the CUNY Graduate Center invites proposals for individual papers or panels at the 12th annual graduate student conference on Friday, April 8, 2022. The theme of the
conference is: “History at the Crossroads: Transitions and Aftermaths.”

The conference offers a welcoming atmosphere in which students can present their own work, receive feedback from CUNY faculty, and meet other students working in related fields. It is particularly designed for first and second year PhD students to gain experience in a conference
environment.

Submissions may be completed papers or preliminary research findings, works-in-progress. This could include a master’s thesis or first and second-year research projects, as well as dissertation chapters. There is no need to have a finished paper to apply!

To apply: submit a 250 word abstract as well as a brief bio (year, field, research interests).

Submissions are due Friday, January 21, 2022. Please send proposals to Deena Ecker and Rebecca Irvine at: GChistoryconference@gmail.com.

Accepted participants will be required to submit a 8-10 page (double spaced) paper three weeks before the conference for commentator review.

Covid-permitting, the conference will be held in-person, at the Graduate Center, CUNY in Manhattan.
