About this Workshop
“Designing something changes the future that is possible,” write Bill Burnett and Dave Evans in their popular book Designing Your Life: How to Build a Well-Lived and Joyful Life. Using design thinking can give a new perspective to the often-perplexing question “How will I support myself?”
Drawing from Burnett and Evans’ popular Design Your Life book and course at Stanford, this webinar will introduce students to the principles of design thinking, ways to understand your needs at work, and how to bridge your ideal situation with the realities of the job market. This approach takes a positive view of developing a work life, emphasizing creativity and joy in the job search process. Whether you are seeking a tenure-track position or looking beyond academia, this workshop will help you explore the work types, environments, and possible career paths within which you will thrive.
