Franklin D. Roosevelt Four Freedoms Park is a national monument to President Franklin D. Roosevelt designed by legendary architect Louis I. Kahn located on Roosevelt Island.

This summer, we seek aspiring academics to develop and conduct tours on the Island. Tours can cover any tangentially related topics to President Roosevelt, his Four Freedoms, architectural history, New York City history, or anything else that might align with our mission. We are purposefully keeping tour options open-ended so that candidates can customize their topics according to their research interests. While this opportunity is unpaid, we think that it would be an exciting opportunity for students that they can add to their CV and use to network with some notable people involved with Four Freedoms, like the park’s founder, Ambassador William vanden Heuvel.

We ask that candidates submit a 2-3 page overview of their proposed tour. We will narrow down the group of applicants accordingly, and, after a screening process, implement 3-5 tours within the coming months. Those selected would be expected to commit to giving 3 tours throughout the summer, all on weekdays as our park is usually at capacity during the weekend.
