February 9 The Office of Human Resources: “Crossing Bridges: Putting your Ph.D. to Work in University Administration

The Offices of Human Resources is pleased to announce the Spring 2017 “Crossing Bridges: Putting your Ph.D. to Work in University Administration” shadowing program is commencing on February 9, 2017.

The “Crossing Bridges: Putting your Ph.D. to Work in University Administration” shadowing program provides an opportunity to The Graduate Center’s students to explore administrative career options at the Graduate Center and other CUNY campuses. Students will shadow senior administrators and learn essential components of their job. As a result, students will gain a better understanding of the administrative and professional functions of senior administrators, and how it relates to their own educational background.

The program is focused on:

• Building informal relationships and helping to understand college’s values and strategies
• Obtaining in-depth knowledge and understanding of university functions and departments
• Providing a full scope of administrators’ daily routine

The Office of Human Resources will be hosting an orientation session on Thursday, February 9, 2017. During the orientation session, our participating senior administrators will provide a brief synopsis of their career’s journey and field questions from the audience. The orientation will be held in the Skylight Room on the 9th floor from 3:00 PM to 4:30 PM. If interested, please rsvp by no later than January 27, 2017 to cjaggon@gc.cuny.edu or call 212-817-7700.
