Mindfulness for Easing into 2021

Facilitated by:  Julius Robins, MFA & Victoria Martin, MA​Clinical Fellows, Student Counseling Services

When: February 1, 2021 (Monday)

Time: 4:00pm – 5:00PM Eastern Time (US and Canada)

This virtual workshop on mindfulness aims to help foster awareness of one’s self and environment in light of the many stressors of the past year. Join us for a 60-minute workshop that will include a guided meditation and tips for reducing stress and remaining present as we ease into 2021.

Please note that this workshop is open to registered graduate students of the CUNY Graduate Center & Journalism School only.

 Zoom Expectations:

Attendees are strongly encouraged to participate via audio and video during the workshop. Though, this will not be a requirement. Attendees will be asked to turn their video off during the guided meditation portion of the workshop.

Master Thesis & Capstone Project Support Group

Tuesdays: 3-4:15PM EST Every Week

Facilitated by Dr. Inez Strama & Ms. Annie Egleson

This is a weekly virtual support group for GC Master’s students working on their theses & capstone projects. Students from all programs, at all stages in the process are welcome. You are not alone! This is a space for you to hear from and share with other students and to learn practical strategies in navigating the process.

Multicultural Identities in Academia Support Group

Thursdays 10-11:15AM EST EVERY WEEK

Facilitated by Dr. Inez Strama & Shruthi Jayashankar, M.A.

  • Are you an international student struggling to navigate academia in U.S. culture? To adjust to the culture of grad school?
  • Are you American-born & trying to better understand your multi-racial and/or multi-ethnic identities within academia?
  • Are you a first, second, or 1.5-generation immigrant grappling with microaggressions, racism, or discrimination in academia?

This group offers support to international students and students from various multicultural backgrounds (i.e., racial, ethnic, religious, socioeconomic, etc.). You’ll have a chance to connect with others, tell your story, and learn from others’ experiences. You are not alone!
