Governors State University is seeking a visiting scholar of U.S. Colonial or 19th Century history immediately while we search for someone to fill the vacancy permanently. Naturally the visiting prof would be welcome and encouraged to apply for the t-t job. Candidates should hold a PhD or be advanced ABD and should have experience teaching first-generation or non-traditional students.

GSU is conveniently located in Chicago’s South suburbs, accessible by Metra rail, about 45 minutes from Hyde Park (60 from the Loop).
