Three sections of History of Urban Life
This course examines the development of urban communities across the United States both temporally and geographically. It examines the patterns of cleavage, conflict, and consensus that have shaped urban life. Social, cultural, and economic forces will be analyzed for the roles they have played in shaping the diverse communities of America’s cities New York City is used as a point of departure, with consideration of other American cities at pivotal moments for purposes of comparison.
