Hermes Seeks Editors and Readers

Hermes, a new literary magazine to be edited and published by GC students, is looking for editors and readers!

This online biannual magazine will be open to submissions from the general public and feature poetry, fiction, non-fiction, translation, and hybrid texts. Hermes believes that GC students, rooted in many different communities with broad disciplinary interests, have a unique editorial role to play in the literary community. Their first issue will be published in spring 2024.

They welcome all GC students who are interested in helping to shape this literary magazine. They particularly encourage those with prior experience working at literary magazines, those who have had their own creative work published, and those with MFAs or MAs in creative writing to serve as editors on the masthead. All editors will have an essential role in crafting the editorial vision for the magazine, including setting the theme for the first issue.

Hermes is excited to have received funding from the DGSC for their first year, which will enable them to pay editors and readers for their time. Expectations for these roles will be clarified in their initial editorial meeting.

An initial meeting will be held in hybrid format on Friday, February 9 at 4 PM in room 3114 for those interested. Please RSVP and reach out with any questions to Victoria Hsu at vhsu@gradcenter.cuny.edu.
