Lehman’s Office of Online Education seeks an enthusiastic College Assistant (3 positions) – functional title Online Student Peer Mentor and Educational Technologist 20 HOURS/ A WEEK starting July 1, 2022
The Office of Online Education at Lehman College serves to create, promote and support effective and accessible online education. The Office of Online Education supports the use of instructional technologies in face-to-face, hybrid, and online teaching. We advise and consult on the use of instructional technologies, guided by research, inquiry, and experimentation. We assist faculty in the design and delivery of online education. We train and consult in the implementation of online instructional activities, course redesign using technology, and the creation of new online courses and programs.
Online Student Peer Mentor and Educational Technologist will assist with
– Serve as point person for Lehman students, directing them to relevant offices and resource to ensure their success
– Develop instructional guides in text or video, other
– Provide guidance and assistance with educational tech tools such as Blackboard, Zoom, Slack, Microsoft Office,
– Answer and/or refer questions from faculty and students concerning ed tech tools, online learning, and other
– Support office staff with data reporting using Excel
– Provide technical assistance for online/remote conference, events, meetings, classes, etc.
– Other responsibilities as assigned
An ideal candidate will be a highly motivated individual with strong communication and customer service skills:
– Be a proficient user of Microsoft Office and familiar with Blackboard, Zoom, etc.
– Have strong written and verbal communication skills
– Excellent organizational and multitasking skills
– Possess the ability to analyze and solve problems
– Quick learner and enjoy learning new technology
– Enjoy contributing to team efforts
– A self-starter with a drive to succeed
– Comfortable providing assistance and support both in-person and online
– Respond quickly to time-sensitive requests
– Customer-oriented approach is a must, along with a positive attitude
