Description

The Department of Social & Cultural Analysis at New York University invites applications for a Postdoctoral Associate in Transpacific Thought and the Problem of Asia, with funding from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation Sawyer Seminar Grant and in collaboration with the Graduate Center at CUNY. The position is open to any scholar in the humanities or social sciences pursuing research related to the transpacific, Asia, and/or Asian racialization in the United States.

 

The Postdoctoral Associate will be awarded an annual stipend of $70,000 (with an additional $2,500 for research funding).

 

The Department of Social and Cultural Analysis is an interdisciplinary department committed to developing innovative approaches in urbanism, migration, critical racial, ethnic and indigenous studies, gender and sexuality, art, culture, politics, and economic life. The Department has degree programs in Africana Studies, American Studies, Asian/Pacific/American Studies, Gender and Sexuality Studies, Latinx Studies, Metropolitan Studies, and Social and Cultural Analysis.

 

In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary for this position is $70,000. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the specific grant funding and the terms of the research grant when extending an offer.

 

This one-year appointment will begin on September 1, 2024, pending administrative and budgetary approval.

Candidates must have Ph.D. in hand by September 1, 2024.
