Dissections, Fall 2015: New Directions in Research on the Middle East and North Africa

 

Dissections, hosted by the CUNY Graduate Center’s Middle East and Middle Eastern American Center (MEMEAC), is an interdisciplinary seminar series which aims to showcase research in progress on the MENA region.

 

IMPORTANT: Interested attendees must RSVP to crominger@gradcenter.cuny.edu for specific dates. Presenters’ papers will be circulated to all confirmed attendees at least one week in advance of the seminar date.

Friday, November 13th, 1:30-3:30pm: Ilana Feldman (George Washington): “Humanitarian care and the ends of life: The politics of aging and dying in a Palestinian refugee camp.” Discussant: Anthony Alessandrini (CUNY). Location: Psychology Conference Room (6304.01)

 

Friday, December 4th, 11:15am-1:15pm: Kutlughan Soyubol (CUNY), Turkish Neo-Spiritualist Movement of the 1940s (title TBD). Discussant: Louis Fishman (CUNY). Location: MEMEAC Seminar Room (6304.23)
