Social Paper (an exciting new Commons feature) demonstration

Friday, December 11th @ 3 pm

Room C203, The CUNY Graduate Center

I’m writing to let you know that The CUNY Academic Commons is releasing a very exciting tool for collaborative writing and feedback this week. Social Paper will allow members of the Commons to network in-progress writing and feedback across disciplines, semesters, and publics, as well as discover the writing of their Graduate Center peers. Additionally, Social Paper will allow students to create an ongoing, dynamic archive of both public, private and in-progress writing.

More information about Social Paper will be forthcoming later this week from the official development team. In the meantime, please mark your calendars for Friday at 3 p.m. when we will be demoing Social Paper for use in classes and academic writing. Laptops are encouraged, but not necessary. During this session, participants will also be encouraged to discuss ways we, as academics, might further participate in the development of our writing and communication platforms to better reflect our values and needs.

While reservations are not required, they are appreciated! If you plan on attending or have any questions, please email me at erin.glass@gmail.com. Also, please feel free to circulate this invitation within the Graduate Center. I look forward to seeing you!

Social Paper

Social Paper is a collaborative writing tool conceived of by Graduate Center ITP students and developed by The CUNY Academic Commons team with the generous support of a NEH Digital Start-Up Grant and a CUNY Advance Grant. Many thanks also to the Graduate Center Digital Fellows for their support and guidance.
